Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure and honor announce that Third Euroasia Congress of  Infectious Diseases (EACID)  (formerly ICCAID) has been scheduled between 1st and 4nd October 2009, in Ramada Baku Hotel, Azerbaijan organized by Blacksea Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (BSCMID) and Azerbaijan Society of Medical Microbiologists and Immunologists (ASMMI)

The Congress focus on Clinical Microbiology, Immunology and Infectious Diseases and Europe, Asia and the Americans scientists will discuss these issues in light of current information for four days.

Blacksea Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (BSCMID) started to scientific collaboration among Eurasian Countries, in order to improve international collaboration on scientific research and combating infectious diseases between in most of Asia and Eastern Europe. One of the collaboration attempts started as international scientific meeting in Central Asia. This scientific congress aimed to introduce local researchers and foreigner attendants from other parts of the world.

Itís been three years since The First International Congress of Central Asia Infectious Diseases (ICCAID) was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from October 30 through November 2, 2006. In order to continue the effort that began in Bishkek in 2006, the second ICCAID has organized between 27 and 30 March 2008 in Almaty - Kazakhstan. These two congresses were very successful events in terms of the collaboration and exchange of experience and expertise among scientists from different nations participated in the congresses and we are hoping to make a high-level scientific congress with more participation from around the world in this congress. Itís very exciting for us to have a congress in Azerbaijan which has historical and cultural ties with Turkey.

ESGAP-ICCAID Postgraduate Course was also held in Almaty, Kazakhstan on 26th March 2008, i.e. immediately prior to ICCAID 2008 with co-organized by European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) Study Group for Antibiotic Policies (ESGAP) and the Black Sea Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (BSCMID). The title of the course was Improving Antimicrobial prescribing of Surgical Prophylaxis/Antibiotic use in the ICU. There were 12 presentations over four sessions in this interactive course.

The meeting was a great chance to experience central Asian hospitality and to be exposed to the latest front line clinical and genomic-based research. As all researchers in the infectious diseases area have a common goal of understanding and fighting the relentless spread of infectious diseases, we hope that such meetings, exchanges and collaborations will help the developing regions of the world succeed in its fight against infectious diseases.

In this congress, main topics will be antimicrobial resistance, hospital infections, bacterial and parasitical infectious, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, sterilization, disinfections, molecular diagnosis methods and protection from infectious diseases.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in our congress. Please mark your calendars for the 3rd EACID October 01 - 04, 2009, Baku, Azerbaijan.

With our best regards,
Prof. Hakan Leblebicioglu, MD
